Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates are officially divorced, after a judge approved their split on Monday.
The powerhouse couple — who met at Microsoft (MSFT) in 1987 and married in 1994 — announced in May that they would be ending their marriage after 27 years, saying, “we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.” French Gates filed the petition for divorce in King County, Washington.
The couple’s divorce agreement was pursuant to a separation contract, which is not public. Neither person will pay spousal support, according to court documents filed Monday. No other financial details are included in publicly available documents.
As of Monday, Gates’ net worth was around $152 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which means he and French Gates could each be worth around $76 billion following the divorce.
French Gates does not plan to change her name, according to court documents.

I think she'll be able to scrape by with $76 Billion. Which is approximately $76 Billion more than she Brought to the marriage!
I wonder why the court split the $152 Billion evenly, since Bill was worth $9.35 Billion before he got married.

Probably. She’s been instrumental in a lot of their philanthropy. And neither of them decided to try to go into space and chortle about it.

She did quite a lot for Bill before they were married. I've got some inside info that I have alluded to before. However she was responsible for a major flop as project team leader for Bob.
Not sure that half was warranted, but I have issues with Washington states 50% split with almost no exceptions. The reasons for the divorce are irrelevant. Happened to me, and I am still pissed off about it.
