Not political, but Covid on this discussion on this side - DinerDave - 08-03-2021

Effective midnight tonight, my company is requiring all employees to wear a mask while working, regardless of vaccination status.
I get it, as we always take the safer tougher regulations of local Boards of Health, meaning we follow the stricter of the regulations when there is overlap.
We deal with several hundred customers everyday, and upper management wants to protect us.
I just wonder how much mask wearing is going on in the offices of these big wigs.
It is what it is.

They are likely worried about not having enough workers if someone gets sick. Masks are the easiest and most effective mitigation strategy you can take. Other than staying home.

Are the folks you deal with are in a closed environment or from the general public? How many people does upper management deal with daily?

It's a convenience store and gas station.
I average about 500 customers inside the store everyday. Many just gas and go outside.
I get the caution, proud of our practices. Our BOH commended me several times over our covid protection.
We were first in the town to have the plexiglas barriers at the register, gloves, masks and sanitizer available available for employees and customers.
One time the BOH Inspector was reviewing town mandates, and we were already doing all of them.
I said, "I know, we got this". Inspectior response by nodding his head and saying, "Yes, you got thi\s more than most".

I take that as a huge compliment.
Still annoyed by the mask wearing mandate, buy I will lease my team by example.

I’m also annoyed by the mask mandate but we’re in a pandemic.

When it's cold, I wear pants, a jacket - and a hat and gloves.

When it's sunny, I wear sunscreen (and a hat!).

When it's a once-in-a-century pandemic, I get vaccinated and wear a mask.

Why is this even a question? There are a zillion masks out there that are perfectly comfortable. Frankly, they're more comfortable than wearing underpants and nobody complains about that. Wearing a mask is just about the most minimal unintrusive thing anyone an do that will protect the fellow humans around them. In my area, all of the stores require masks and there is 100% compliance. It is no big deal. Get a grip!

But... but... freedomz!

Almost all the people I've heard complaining about mask-wearing claim that it's somehow an infringement on their personal rights. Well, what about my right to NOT be infected by you?
