.....In the United States, “The King's Man” will debut on Hulu on February 18th 2022. Expect it to also arrive on HBO Max.....

Sooo bad.

Decent action scenes, but the story is dumb/formulaic in the extreme and the end-credits scene is the sort of cr@p you'd see from a 3rd grader's lazy last-minute attempt to fill a writing-assignment after forgetting about it for a week.

For those not familiar with the franchise, this is the third in the series. Read carefully what follows, the naming convention is a bit atypical.

In order…
  1. The Kingsman: The Secret Service (One word, no apostrophe). 2014
Wikipedia: The film follows Gary "Eggsy" Unwin's (Taron Egerton) recruitment and training into a secret spy organisation. Eggsy joins a mission, in brutal and comedic fashion, to tackle a global threat from Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson), a wealthy megalomaniac wanting to deal with climate change by wiping out most of humanity. Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Michael Caine play supporting roles.

  2. The Kingsman: Golden Circle. 2017
IMDb: With their headquarters destroyed and the world held hostage, members of Kingsman find new allies when they discover a spy organization in the United States known as Statesman. In an adventure that tests their strength and wits, the elite secret agents from both sides of the pond band together to battle a ruthless enemy and save the day…

  3. The King’s Man (Two words, “King’s” with an apostrophe.) 2021
Wikipedia: a prequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017). Its ensemble cast includes Ralph Fiennes… Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance. It focuses on several events during World War I and the birth of the Kingsman organization.
A quick Google lists February 18 as the streaming debut date, noting the unusual fact of it debuting on more than one streaming service simultaneously. Perhaps folks are confusing the first and third films, given that the first is very often referenced simply as “The Kingsman”?

BONUS The “That Time Archer Met a Kingsman” short (YouTube)

Thanks for the warning. Applying all the time I've saved not watching any of the above, I'll go back to reading Colson Whitehead followed by James Lee Burke.

LOL thanks for the creative wave-off, needed that. Said with complete sincerity and zero sarcasm.

I really liked the first Kingsman, but the second was only OK.

As a third film in a franchise, confidence is always low.

This third film being a prequel, all bets are off.

I'll watch it, but without knowing anything about it,even prior to reading this thread, it was my assumption this wouldn't be nearly as good as the first one.

Because that's generally how it goes.

Not to say there aren't successful franchises, whether or not I like them.
