The real "denazification" - deckeda - 03-04-2022 There's a story today of Putin making a new speech that seeks to --- wait for it --- normalize what Russia is doing in Ukraine. Setting aside his insanity for a moment here's a history lesson: https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2022/03/04/kyiv-nazis-world-war-ii-russia/ In 1941 the Russians fought Nazi-occupied Kiev and suffered a tremendous loss. Russia did capture Kiev in 1943 for the Allies but not without more vicious loss. The Babyn Yar ravine would be the site of an estimated 100K executions, a third of which were Jews. This week, a Russian missile struck near Babyn Yar, now within Kyiv’s city limits, adding five more people to the notorious death toll. I really don't see Putin using the bizarre "denazification" claim for much longer, if at all. Re: The real "denazification" - deckeda - 03-04-2022 Note that the author is being eviscerated over use of "Russia" instead of USSR. Re: The real "denazification" - hal - 03-04-2022 I'm seriously wondering if the top RU brass even knew that Zelensky was Jewish. It's pretty hard to claim 'denazification' when job #1 is to knock out the Jew at the top of gov't. Not so sure that he's gonna stop it - the support he is getting within Russia is mostly for the denazification effort - many believe it. If that is no longer the issue, what the hell is he doing there? |
