"In an about-face, Fast Retailing, the clothing giant that owns Uniqlo, said on Thursday that the brand would stop operating in Russia. The decision came days after the company’s founder said it would continue to do business in the country, drawing backlash.
In the Thursday statement, Fast Retailing said that it “recently faced a number of difficulties, including operational challenges and the worsening of the conflict situation.”
“Fast Retailing is strongly against any acts of hostility,” the statement continued. “We condemn all forms of aggression that violate human rights and threaten the peaceful existence of individuals.”
Tadashi Yanai, its founder, had previously told a Japanese newspaper: “Clothing is a necessity of life. The people of Russia have the same right to live as we do.”

My comment was tongue in cheek. Lucky for us, the only thing America and Europe need from Russia is gas, oil and vodka, and those are available from other sources. China, well, not so easy to cut them off when most of Walmart and Amazon are filled with their goods.

It is coming up on 20 years since I first criticized Walmart* for sourcing so much of their content from China. It's a national security issue now. Too many of our prescription drugs come from off shore.
It wouldn't even take nukes. If some major country shelled the seven biggest West Coast container ports (only need to hit the cranes and rail lines) and the Panama Canal, much of the USA would grind to a standstill in six weeks.
