I learned a new word. Joggers - vision63 - 05-21-2022

A guy said he liked my joggers. I said "my shoes?" He said, "No, your pants." Just some thin Adidas sweatpants.

I have a whole list of words that I dislike (Umami, Vegan, Empath etc.), I'm not sure if I'm gonna add this to it. I don't know the full meaning of it, nor will I research it. I'm trying to embrace aging with the proper dismissal of that which annoys me for petty reasons.

Happy May 21st!

My friend from Cali used to call sneakers, running shoes. What's up with that?

I pride myself on being a vegan empath who enjoys the taste of umami while wearing joggers, my man.

There definitely regional takes on these things. It's collapsing though.

My cousins in the East (NY/NJ) call all athletic shoes "sneakers." We on the West Coast, never, ever called any athletic shoe sneakers. We called them all "Tennis Shoes" regardless of the purpose of the shoe.

We called Converse (Chuck Taylor) "Stars" or "All-Stars), most Stars. Now everybody calls them "Chucks." Even my friends that used to call them Stars, have caved into calling them Chucks.

When Crack Cocaine became a thing (after Freebasing), the term "Crack" was just an Eastern term. In the West, they called them "Rocks." The East Coast expression took over since that's were national media was based.

In the Chicago area, all brands and flavors of soda pop were referred to as a “Coke.”

Edit: And a baseball glove was always called a “mitt,” whether it was a glove for a catcher, infielder or outfielder.
