wash your hands before you pee, with hot water, soap, 3x. then wear winter gloves.

scovile ratings can vary a lot depending on growing conditions

We had a patch near our small dispensing building where we fertilized the peppers with watered down waste hydrazine, and they were crazy hot. If you didn't dilute the hydrazine, the dirt would burst into flames. It is a VERY strong oxidizer IIRC. We had a fire once because a few drops hit a red shop towel from a leak.

I just ate habanero salsa, so I’m getting a kick about this…

My ghost peppers, Trinidad scorpions, and Carolina reapers tip their hats to you. I mean, bonnets.

If youz can't stand da heat...., stick with hummus.

Hot peppers ain't just all about the the heat...., sometimes ya gotta temper 'em w/ something to appreciate the actual flavor of the peppers.
I love me some fire roasted Hatch Valley chiles, that generally speaking, barely climb into the "medium" category.
Well, my pussy little brother swears they're still too hot for him, so he waters 'em down to 50/50 or even 60/40 in favor of tomatillos.
While that does make a nice salsa, albeit it's pretty tame salsa, I appreciate the thought, cuz I occasionally get some fresh "extra hot" habanero/ghost pepper salsa that I cut ~50/50 with some chopped tomato and fire roasted mild peppers. It's still way, way, way hotter than the straight up "medium" Hatch Valley chiles, so it's off limits for my PLB, but it's toned down enough to taste the wonderful flavors of the habanero and ghost peppers in the RYO version (I'm pretty sure there's not very much ghost pepper in the original salsa, otherwise we'd need to tone it down a lot more).

Scotch Bonnets and Habañeros are pretty much interchangeable; basically, scotches are Caribbean habaneros, or habaneros are Mexican scotches.

I'll stick with Mild Tostito's.

When I'm feeling crazy adventurous, I'll mix in an equal part of Medium.
