Starting a copy of my TM backup to another drive - wish me luck - hal - 05-25-2022

I've turned on 'Prevent computer from falling asleep automatically when the display is off'. I've shut down unused software.

I'm guessing that it will actually succeed, but will take 48 hours - maybe I'm being overly optimistic...

It's been 5 minutes and so far we've made it to the 'preparing to copy 227,295 items' stage. I remember having such a sense of pride when my Norton Utilities told me that it was about to work on my OVER 10,000 files - wow! This thing will probably top 1,000,000 before it starts to copy...

copying from an external HDD USB3 connection to a thunderbolt hub to a hdd in a USBC box

it failed several hours later because the new drive was not big enough - ugh... the drives are identical

downloaded Superduper and it's copying along at almost 100mb/s - about the top speed of the drive. Off to bed...

Superduper is a good option.

I remember playing--and losing--that game a while back.

Excellent!

I wonder if a sudo ditto in Terminal would have gone faster (or worked at all)
