PBS fund raising program about the 60's Freedom Songs discusses the power of song in the Freedom movement.
Maybe the answer to the far right is a good collection of new protest songs. I cannot imagine who would step up to write and sing them or just what the message would be, but the idea is intriguing.

Shows like American iDolt are intended to get youngsters to desire being famous over contributing to social change. Just one more reason why I despise the genre.
