Taking this as the most current Trump/secret docs thread, I was a little surprised at this:
Half of U.S. Republicans say federal law enforcement officials behaved irresponsibly since searching former President Donald Trump's Florida home for classified documents taken from the White House, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found this week.
They're actually soft-pedaling this. Fifty-four percent of Republicans say the FBI acted irresponsibly against just 23% that say they acted responsibly - over two to one. (the rest said they didn't know).
Again, WTF are you supposed to do when you're the FBI and you know someone has top secret/SCI docs in his possession (in his basement!), and he doesn't want to give them back? And months of increasing legal pressure and pleading by top officials are met with complete disinterest/obstruction?
This from what claims to be the law and order party?

I think many of them think about this in very stark tribal terms. Where they feel they should believe what their tribal leaders tell them. And if tribal leaders of the other tribe go after tribal leaders of your tribe, then they must be bad people - which members of your tribe are very much inclined to believe because your leadership constantly pushes the idea that your tribe is in existential danger from the other tribe.
