Super Bowl Poll - Who should I root for? - karsen - 02-04-2007

Let me start out by saying the team I choose to root for has been the Super Bowl winner for the last 8 years straight. So if you like either team it's in your best interest to get me on your side!

I'm not a fan of either team; I don't have money on either team.

Reasons I have to root for the Bears:
- I'm a diehard Lions fan so having a team win from the same Division is nice.
- I'm a Bucs fan because of location. Lovie Smith was a Bucs coach.
- As a kid, I spent my summers in Chicago.
- I really, really, really dislike Peyton Manning.
- I have a small wager I made years back stating Peyton would never win a Super Bowl.

Reasons I have to root for the Colts:
- Tony Dungy was a Bucs coach and still has a house in the area here.
- Tony Dungy needs a win to vallidate his brilliance as a coach.
- Tony Dungy lost his kid a couple years back.
- Tony Dungy is a nice guy.
- Um, their coach is Tony Dungy.

So who should I be rooting for and why? (My allegiance can be bought for a day.)

I see a lot of people mentioning how much they hate Peyton Manning. I always wonder why?

I don't love or hate the guy. I do think he's a great quarterback and he seems to carry himself well. Not an a-hole like a T.O. or a showboat like a Chad Johnson. What do people have against him? The tv commercials?

Irsay sr. stole the Colts under the cover of darkness from one of the great traditional NFL towns and heritagely one of the NFL core. Duh Bears dating from 1924 and a great tradition has to be a great favorite. Screw Irsay.

He took the names and the uniforms too. Pig.

I have a small wager I made years back stating Peyton would never win a Super Bowl.

I'd say that this should be the overriding factor. Smile

It's a $5 friendly bet. Not enough to be a deciding factor.

Oh, just skip the Super Bowl and watch the Puppy Bowl instead!

Peyton Manning is an A-hole. He's never, NEVER, won a big game either in college or the pros. After nearly every big loss he's had some sort of blame to place on teammates. Throwing a team mate under the bus after a loss is not carrying yourself well. This goes all the way back to Tennessee losses against Florida.

I've seen him waive off the punt team on 4th down before, essentially taking things in his own hands. He also calls the line blocking. He also calls many of his own plays (ever wonder why they throw the ball on 1st and goal from the 1 yard line so much?).

There's no doubt he is a great QB but when you take on that kind of responsibility on the field then you should man up and take the blame that goes along with it.
