Gut Wrenching commercial. - BigGuynRusty - 02-05-2007 The Pedigree ad. Yes, I know it is ultimately an advertisement, but still strikes a chord with me. All my dogs are shelter dogs. David Duchovney does the voiceover. "I know how to sit, how to fetch, and how to rollover. What I don't know, is how I ended up in here. But I know that I am a good dog, and I just want to go home." BGnR Re: Gut Wrenching commercial. - cbelt3 - 02-05-2007 yep. My daughter (19) started crying and walked away from the TV. I will say that the most pitiful superbowl ad was the "GM Robot Suicide Dream" ad. I mean, how horrible ! Imagine being a laid off auto worker watching people make fun of your personal plight. GM should lay off their advertiser for that one. Oh, and of course, most of their management and union management for screwing them up so badly. Re: Gut Wrenching commercial. - dmann - 02-05-2007 Yep, that ad really gets to me, too. It has been running for a couple weeks and I almost always end up giving my shelter dog and my shelter cat a little treat every time it plays. Both GM and Ford have closed their Atlanta plants over the last 6 months. I know several people who lost their jobs, their health insurance, and will have to find totally new jobs. In light of the staggering financial losses these companies have had, I found that commercial to be particularly insensitive. Re: Gut Wrenching commercial. - AlphaDog - 02-05-2007 It reduces me to tears, and I've gotten to the point where I grab the remote and hit Mute and try not to look. Louie is a shelter dog, and I've been looking at the Petfinder site again, but I really have no business getting another dog. It's all I can do to take care of Louie and me properly. ![]() Re: Gut Wrenching commercial. - SteveJobs - 02-05-2007 Similar in emotional string pulling is the 'Global Warming' one with a guy standing on the tracks and a train coming. He says he's not worried, steps aside to reveal a young girl behind him ....and off camera implies she'll be the one to get hit. When your factual arguments are exposed as nonsense, go for the heartstrings. One way or another, create converts. Nice. I would be interested to hear the clear, rational reasoning which demonstrates that global warming is a cult. cheers scott Re: Gut Wrenching commercial. - Don Kiyoti - 02-05-2007 Forget it Scott - elmo's unable to reason clearly & rationally. |
