It's Official... VERIZON SUCKS!!! - spacescape - 02-06-2007 After my mom waiting 1-1/2 hours to get a new phone they transfered the WRONG phone number on it. WTF!!! So we officially have Two phones not working. They are so stupid sometimes!!! So, my one uncle has a working phone with his phone number on my other uncles. I don't know WHY it takes 1-1/2 hours to pick up a phone from any CELL phone store and then they manage to mess things up. Bill Re: It's Official... VERIZON SUCKS!!! - mstudio - 02-06-2007 Well, I always hate to say that someone or something sucks, I like to say that here is room for improvement. But, in Verizon's case... we had them as our provider for our cells for 3 or 4 years. When we wanted new fancy phones with a camera and bluetooth, I was surprised to find out that bluetooth is disabled for the most part and forget trying to get photos to or from the phone with paying them extra. I returned them and went with a new provider that let's the phone do it's thing. Verizon sucks! Re: It's Official... VERIZON SUCKS!!! - spacescape - 02-06-2007 I have SprintPCS and Sprint Sucks as well. If I can make it until December I'll probably move to another provider. Too bad my rates will most likely go up. However, I've been in verizon 3-4 times in the last few months with various people from the company and what a production. If you go in and tell them "I WANT TO REPLACE THIS PHONE W/ THIS PHONE" it seems to still take over an hour to get out of there. What a production. That said, ALL THE CELL PHONE COMPANIES SUCK THIS WAY. Why is it such a production. The most annoying thing is that you have a phone that is 11 months old and it is replaced under warranty but "we don't have that phone any longer" and you have to pick something out then need to argue w/ them to trade you for new accessories that don't work with the new model even though it's not your choice. What a RACKET. Bill Re: It's Official... VERIZON SUCKS!!! - onthedownlow - 02-06-2007 I've been a very, very happy Verizon customer for several years now. Bluetooth is crippled, somewhat, on the phones, yes, but there are easy workarounds to allow that type of access so the phone can 'do its thing'. The photos transferring is the easiest and is legitimate (i.e. standard file transfer service via Bluetooth). No problem with EVDO (via Blutooth or USB cable) or NationalAccess here....transferring photos...music...applications - and very importantly, backing up the entire phone/system image for restoration. The last time I replaced my phone (actually went to a V-store a few months ago), I told them what phone I wanted...in/out in 10 minutes with it programmed. (LG-VX9800 to LG-VX9900). Of course keeping my old phone, as always, so I can very, very, very easily switch service, 24/7, to that phone myself (via the online account access which will let you activate virtually any compatible phone). Such a wonderful feature they provide to their customers if they need to change phones for whatever reasons. I swapped out a few phones during one week just to 'try them out'...no personal contact with Verizon needed for this. Yes, GSM/SIM phones can do this on a whim...but different technology there. Re: It's Official... VERIZON SUCKS!!! - silvarios - 02-06-2007 As onthedownlow alluded to, GSM is a far superior solution when it comes to phone swapping. The key is to remember to save all your contacts to the SIM card, which admittedly limits some of the cool extra tagging features that even the cheapest T-Mobile cell phones will provide. Then when it comes time to update your phone, you pop the SIM card out of old phone and pop the old SIM card into new phone. Done. Nathan Re: It's Official... VERIZON SUCKS!!! - sscutchen - 02-06-2007 I've got 4 LG 8300s from Verizon. Connect them by bluetooth to my Macs. Transfer ringtones, pictures, address books using BitPim. Re: It's Official... Nathan That is a good idea but syncing the phone is a much better plan. I keep all the extras and still keep all the swappability. Either way, SIM cards are far superior. I don't like the idea that the cell provider controls when and if you can swap phones. BGnR Re: It's Official... VERIZON SUCKS!!! - spacescape - 02-06-2007 Ok, called the 800 number and was talking to a human within a few minutes. Told them what happened. Called our authorized person to give me permission to fix the problem. The authorized person added me to the list of "authorized contacts" and gave me the PIN NUMBER. They accidentally flipped the transposed the two numbers and put them back to the correct phones. Reauthorized the phone that I had and everything is good. Now I just need to get a hold of my other uncle to walk him through authorizing his phone. So, Verizon only 50% sucks today. The person at customer service FIXED the problem immediately. Do Razor phones have SIM cards? I wonder if his previous phone has a sims card. Bill Re: It's Official... VERIZON SUCKS!!! - incognegro - 02-06-2007 [quote sscutchen]I've got 4 LG 8300s from Verizon. Connect them by bluetooth to my Macs. Transfer ringtones, pictures, address books using BitPim. Did you have to hack the phone? This won't work with Verizon RAZRs. To get pix off my RAZR for free, I have to use a USB cable & BitPim on a Win2K PC. Re: It's Official... VERIZON SUCKS!!! - celliott - 02-06-2007 incognegro, have you tried the Mac OSX version of Bitpim? I have US Cingular service- we have three phones (Kyocera) that are just past the warranty period. Two of the three have gone bad in just the last few days. I called their customer service and with almost no prompting, only a question of how she could help me, the lady is sending me three brand new LG UX245 bluetooth camera phones (low res camera, but my Kyoceras have nothing). I'm very pleased, just a swap of phones. She said we've been with them for over 7 years now and they want to keep us. Anyway- I have the USB cable from a previous LG, but I've read on the Apple boards of people using bluetooth to transfer pics and ring tones on LGs. I get my phones on Thursday- what should I expect? I just downloaded the Mac version of Bitpim 9.11, I believe the same version number as the Windows version. |
