what kind of glue/adhesive for attaching sneaker sole pieces back onto shoe? - clay - 03-06-2023

Have tried silicone adhesives, but those don't seem to work. Seems like I need something that can better adhere to plastics/rubbers for a more permanent connection.

Anything available to mortals, either at a big-box store, or AMZ that I should try instead? Hoping to have something in hand this week.

I would try goop. It’s a Silicon type glue, but much stronger than the others. Make sure you clean, rough up and clean again the two surfaces.

There are glues made especially for shoes. I got mine at Lowes and it worked fine. I have also used Gorilla Glue with good results.

ShoeGoo would be a good first try. I also use E6000 to bond lots of leather-nylon-vinyl type items together. Both should be available at a hardware or crafts store.

There is a product called Shoe Goo that claims to be and adhesive designed for shoes. It's sold in a lot of retail and online stores

I would clean them with water and or alcohol. Shoe goo pales in comparison to Goop.

Another vote for E6000

Another vote for Shoe Goo. I've used it on several sneakers and on a pair of boots. It's very strong. I've used a 5 gallon bucket of water as a weight to clamp the shoe sole while the glue dried. I've also used a ratcheting clamp. I would carry Shoe Goo as part of my uniform repair kit on scout campouts... there's always one kid whose shoes are worn out.

Shoe goop works . The only problem is the material you glue the sole to starts to shred. Doesn't extend the life of athletic shoes that much . I just give up and buy a new shoe anymore .
