You know, the one where your Consumer Reports says McDonalds is better than Starbucks?

I read that, but the headline alone is so ludicrous, the article just confirms how inept CR is.

Coffee is all about bean/grind freshness, brewtemp, good water and quality beans. None of which fast food/donut shops have.

To each (swill) his own.

I guess I'm part of the unwashed masses. I've had coffee from purveyors of fine coffees, gourmet restaurants, truck stops, chain restaurants and diners. I've also made my own grinding the beans and using a variety of machines. I prefer McDonald's to them all--even to my home brew.

McDonalds policy has them cleaning their coffee makers far more often than Stuckballs.

I have no doubt that alone makes their coffee taste better.

Zoidberg beat me to it... Community is pretty much all I drink, other than the occasional cup of turkish coffee. Have to bring it with me when I leave town 'cause coffee everywhere else is never strong enough!

I've found the key to good coffee is to use lots of coffee.

You wouldn't make a second pot with old grounds. But that is exactly what you are doing if you pass too much water over not enough coffee.

Use enough coffee so that the extraction does not get those awful bits at the end. Then dilute it if it is too strong.

Diluting good strong coffee with clear water is much better than diluting good strong coffee with water filtered through used up grounds.
