Has been sharing a broadband connection with friends living across the street from us for a couple of years. Now that the price of DSL service has gone down we are thinking of going on our own. We are currently paying $10 per month for dial-up which we rarely use. Knowing few friends who are very happy with SBC/YAHOO. I am checking out Verizon (our current landline provider). I have learnt from here that Verizon is terrible as far as cell phone service is concerned. What about its DSL? Right now there is an online deal for $9.99 per month for the first 3 months. Afterwards, it will be $19.99 for one year contract. We are living in Monrovia/Pasadena area. TiA

ITS ABOUT TIME.
I got the cheap DSL option also, a little over a year ago. Happy with the DSL speeds.
14.99 plus taxes and fees per month for a year contract.
Rate went up to 17.99 per month after the contract was up.

I have cable and could not go to DSL. Several of my relatives have it and it feels SO slow compared to my cable. Cable has ruined me.

I have had both Cable at 6Mb, and DSL at 2Mb, my DSL was much faster.
Especially when the kids get out of school, when the parents get home, and after dinner, just bog slow at those times.

Ask your friends across the street how they like the service.
It can vary from area to area, Adelphia cable just plain sucked here for years, but my buddy's Adelphia just two miles away was 8Mb/2Mb, while I plodded along at literally dialup speeds at cable prices.

Got my first taste of real internet speed with a cable modem the other night at my brothers house. I've been on dial-up since forever, and now I'm really tempted to go broadband.

nothing is going to be cheaper than that. most of the time i recommend cable but if you're so price sensitive then i doubt it can compete.

I'm happy with my Verizon DSL(office), but the CO is only seven blocks up the street. :-)
Too far from the CO at home.
Which leaves Comcast cable, dial-up (recently cancelled, spoiled) or satellite.
(so, I have nothing at home )
