Well, they are only planning to close 8 stores in the United States.

Proof that Walmart is evil. Not satisfied with wiping out local businesses, they've started to suck the life out of other evil greedy huge corporations now.

Well, one change they could address (my local store) would be to eliminate the tendency of 'sales persons' to hover around the plasma TVs like vultures.
Walk in and look at small ticket items and you are ignored.
They could actually insist employees man the cash registers.
(here you have to go to customer service and wait in line to buy anything small enough to carry)
The stock room upstairs must be a vault . It can take 30 minutes to find out if they have something in there.

Evillllll. Walmart is so Goth. What other corporation has enough Vampire The Masquerade dark mojo to actually suck the life out of entire companies? Black nail polish, eyeliner, Bauhaus and the Cure, Lord Cthulhu and the madness, do I hear bats! No wait, what? ........Mescaline and sleep deprivation, better than coffee!!! The mind is a terrible thing to taste.

The one closest to me is moving miles away to a trendy new shopping center in Outer Suburbia.

I think most of the people here do not go to these computer stores for technical advice but just to pick something up.

OK. Granted. Did I give you the impression these stores were used by Forum members seeking "advice"?It is nice to be able to walk into a store and peruse the models before purchasing wherever.....not advice on what to buy.

Possible good buys was the reason I posted the info ....... ;-)

No its proof that CC is just a crapily run company, and that you hate Walmart because it's chic to do so.

Here is the reality: the CE market leader right now is BB, which grossly OVERPRICES almost everything they sell. In fact, that is their stated market strategy. They openly renounced the "value buyer' a couple years ago. So I'm not sure how your logic of Walmart undercutting competition to force them out works.

Moreover, it's really hard to compare Walmart's craptastic assortment of CE junk with that over CCs. I can bargain hunt @ CC with the right coupons or competitor ads. Walmart doesn't even come close to handling the decent brands or models, must less the assortment. What it comes down to is the CC execs can't really find a marketing strategy that works. That is their fault not their competition's.
