"Asking the GOP: When Was America Last Great? | The Daily Show " - Ted King - 05-27-2023

I'm sure like a lot of people here, ever since I heard "Make America Great Again" (MAGA), I have wondered when they thought America was great before. So it was fun to see The Daily Show go out to MAGA people and ask them that question. As you would expect, it's good for some giggles (2 minute video):

"That wasn't an insult, by the way"

love it. :RollingEyesSmiley5:

Why do some people equate patriotism to wearing the flag (despite it going against he US flag code).

It usually seems to be between the End of Reconstruction (1877) and the beginning of the Civil Rights era (1956). It depends a little on when they went through puberty and how aware they were of current events at the time.

People who claim to be patriots and that they "love the flag" can do anything to the flag because they love it.

Circular reasoning works because circular reasoning works.

Much like religion, the people who are loudest about patriotism are usually the most superficial.
