Plain looking USB 2 drive enclosure for SATA? - C(-)ris - 02-15-2007 I've got a 500GB SATA drive that I want to put in an enclosure. USB2 only is fine, Firewire would be nice, but not neccessary. I've been looking around, and everything I have come across has ugly blue lights or other crap all over it. I just want something that is plain, one color, or aluminum and has a USB connection that doesn't cost $100. Under $30 probably would be good. Anyone seen one? Re: Plain looking USB 2 drive enclosure for SATA? - jdc - 02-15-2007 where have you looked? i start with newegg, supermediastore and then mertiline Re: Plain looking USB 2 drive enclosure for SATA? - D. Lawson - 02-15-2007 Computer Geeks has one that might be passable, priced at $22. You may want to e-mail/call them about the size of its drive support, since it isn't listed. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=AP35SATA&cat=CSE They have another $22 enclosure that has a better look to it, but it only supports drives up to 400 GB. Re: Plain looking USB 2 drive enclosure for SATA? - michaelb - 02-15-2007 I have this one. Seems to work, pretty well put together, and looks nice. Also it is $20. Someone else here recommended it last month. http://www.cooldrives.com/sata-hard-driveenclosure.html Re: Plain looking USB 2 drive enclosure for SATA? - deckeda - 02-16-2007 ^^^ I just got that one as well, but haven't hooked it up yet. Seems decent enough for the bux, and fanless too. Just hope it doesn't melt whatever drive I put in it. |
