Wife washed my new iPod nano... - Webster J. Duck - 02-17-2007

Left in my running shorts in my gym bag. Can't get too mad, it was nice of her to wash my gear.

Anything to be done at this point or is it into the trash can?

Do those things open up?
I'd take the battery out and let it dry out.

What have you got to lose?

I have heard people soak and rinse electronics out in distilled water-since it is not the water, bit the minerals that causes the corrosion. Pure water is not a conductor.

I do my own laundry. Saves a bunch of hassle.

I've heard if you leave alone and let it really dry out, it may be ok.

Warm dry place for a couple days is safest.
Less if you can open it to expose more area..
After that, when feeling lucky, turn it on.

If it was on in the washer the odds go way down.

One of my student's dropped his in the toilet...left for the weekend in a windowsill in the sun...worked except for some funkiness with the Menu button. Started using it and after a week it was totally back to normal.

The funny thing is, he told the other kids and his iPod is now theft-proof!

Took it apart, dried it and it sparked up and played a song. Now to leave it alone for the weekend. I'm giving it a 50:50 chance.
