canned air ** update ** - wurm - 11-11-2023

original thread

Please report back on how it works.

One word review: Meh

Pros:
• the light is convenient, if you need to see what you're blowing. (careful, Newt)
• three speeds, if you have some delicate equipment to dust off
• lots of accessories and a storage/carry bag
• usb-c rechargeable

Cons:
• weaker air flow than I hoped for (my fault for expecting too much)
• noisy, as Tiangou noted for most of these things

Bottom line is it's going back. Not sure exactly what I was expecting. Even at the highest power, it doesn't seem to match a quick blast from a can. For sustained use, it's probably better, but that's not what my use will be. I should have thought of that going in. For as frequently as I need something like this, I'll stick with overpriced cans.

I actually cheat… I have a big air compressor and an old R22 bottle converted into an air tank. And an air/water separator to keep it dry.

I used to use one of my partially filled dive tanks. They generally had around 1400PSI left.

Coincidentally, I just used the one I posted about in that thread, for cleaning out the cutter block of my rechargeable vacuum hair clippers, that I'd posted about a LONG time ago: https://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,2481980,2482055#msg-2481980

... it worked perfectly for this purpose... there were a ton of hairs in there!

I use the one I posted in the other thread for blowing out computer components mostly, but I do it out on my porch so as not to foul the air inside. I sometimes use it to blow off my porch while I'm out there. It's got all the power ya need...

Yes, but I got the silver version (quicker delivery).

Thank you for the update, wurm.

That went about what I expected for battery powered kit.

Something by Ryobi or Milwaukee would probably be more substantial, if it existed (no leaf blowers need be applied), but would be ungainly.

So if Smote's choices doesn't pan out, then it's a six-pack for me.

wurm, you should return that thing.

Apologies if returning it is already on your ToDo list.
