Backpacker, Outside, or... ? - SteveO - 02-17-2007 Have an opinion on which outdoor mag you like best? I've been with Backpacker for a few years but it's been kind of lame the past year with a few exceptions. "Outside" is another possibility but I haven't picked up an issue. Then there's a Nat'l Geo pub called Adventure or something...which sounds cool except I'd like articles on mostly US trips and Adventure I think has stuff on climbing the K2, etc. Bah, I'm not gonna scramble up the K2 anytime soon. Thanks! Re: Backpacker, Outside, or... ? - jimbrady - 02-17-2007 Or perhaps it's just a vagrant? Re: Backpacker, Outside, or... ? - grad - 02-17-2007 Backpacker is the best of those you mentioned. Your best bet is to just go to your local trail shop and pick up last months Outdoor, Backpacker, Adventure, Climbing mags for free. They always just give them away for free. No need to subscribe to any of them. Re: Backpacker, Outside, or... ? - mrbigstuff - 02-18-2007 this is a good reason to post one of my favorite songs of the 90s Evan Dando THE OUTDOOR TYPE (T. Morgan) Always had a roof above me Always paid the rent I never, set foot inside a tent Couldn’t build a fire to save my life I lied about being, the outdoor type I’ve never slept out underneath the stars Closest that I came to that was one time my car, Broke down for an hour In the suburbs, at night I lied about being, the outdoor type Too scared to let you know I knew what you were looking for Lied until I’d fit the bill God bless the great indoors I lied about being, the outdoor type I’ve never owned a sleeping bag, let alone a mountain bike I can’t go away with you on a rocking climbing weekend What if something’s on TV and it’s never shown again Just as well I’m not invited I’m afraid of heights I lied about being, the outdoor type Never learned to swim Can’t grow a beard or even fight I lied about being, the outdoor type |
