Some thoughtful podcasts on birthrates and parental support - sekker - 04-11-2024

From Ezra Klein. I am not a fan of a lot of his topics, but he has some interesting ones recently.

This one talks about why birthrates are plummeting worldwide in developed nations:

This one talks about how our culture puts work and parenting goals at odds:

While there is not a perfect correlation, I think the two topics ARE interdependent.

Personally, I've spent 30 years trying to help support parenting (for those that want to have kids) for professionals in academia, especially women. The examples given here are really true in my experience.
