... About whether statements by JK Rowling were transphobic or not.

Warren Smith.

Well, turns out he was FIRED over it.

His firing will open up all sorts of doors I hope.

How dare he teach students how to think critically - that is not part of the curriculum...

Nice that he can give his side. Where is the tweet from the other side? I’ll wait to hear the other side before praising this teacher.

All fair. Someone being fired is seldom for a single act/action.

However, I think it was correct to describe him as a teacher we felt was worthy of admiring for his earlier pro-thinking video.

From the little bit of Googling I've done so far, apparently he was at risk of losing his job prior to today ... also, he was a bit self-aggrandizing, and there's also been some suggestion that the video we all saw was staged.

So... the whole situation may require some re-evaluation... I agree with Speedy that it's best to withhold judgment for now.

Gotta remember, though, most employers can not and will not disclose personal / private details about circumstances like this to the public for a variety of reasons (privacy laws, labor laws, union contracts, severance agreements / settlements). So we may never hear the full story, unfortunately.

Hopefully more will come out. He is still teaching part-time at Emerson, so he's in the Boston area. I would really like to know where he got fired from.

I took a look at his youtube channel. His small films are intriguing but basically incoherent. And something about his vibe is off for me.

Sorry, I was hoping to avoid a Musk visit - tends to polarize the discussion.

Yes, could be true as well.

Even if he 'staged' that video, I see nothing wrong in it per se. But it definitely set off a lot of JKR haters.
