Tragic crash in Florida - pdq - 05-15-2024 Drunk Florida Man (at 6:30 AM) drifts across line, sideswipes old school bus converted to carry 53 migrants to pick melons. Eight died. Wait - migrants? Yep, most from Mexico. I thought that was illegal in Florida. Shouldn’t they have been flown to some blue state without warning? Not when there’s melons to be picked. Edit: “They are hard-working individuals and there is absolutely nothing wrong with them being here,” Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said, after being asked if those on board were undocumented. Umm…you didn’t really answer the question, Sheriff. You just kinda said, Well, these are hard workin good Messicans. Who hired them and put them on that bus? Did they check their documents? Just wondering. Re: Tragic crash in Florida - $tevie - 05-15-2024 This performative anti-illegals BS is going to bite the GOP in their collective butts. The economy needs migrant workers and when this is messed with there is hell to pay, for example when Maryland couldn't find enough people to pick crabs resulting in the cost of crab meat skyrocketing (although seriously, every year we have some reason that crab meat skyrockets, but this crab-picking issue was a real thing). It's like abortion. These idiots chase cars and when they catch them they get run over instead. God forbid, if Trump gets in and deports everyone he sees with brown skin, the economy is going to tank. And this time there will be no adults in the room. In the meantime, I am very sad that these people lost their lives, especially due to a drunk driver. What a tragedy. He’ll continue to feed hate to the MAGAt base but his rich cronies will be allowed to continue to exploit these undocumented workers. Re: Tragic crash in Florida - RAMd®d - 05-15-2024 Sure, that’s why the sheriff gave the answer he did. Maybe the Sheriff felt that at that point in time IWNOTFB. That question smacks of a Stop and Demand attitude of requiring one's 'papers' should one be stopped for suspicion of being brown. Re: Tragic crash in Florida - Mr645 - 05-15-2024 Legal migrants vs. illegal migrants. No one is against legal immigration. Just so those legal immigrants are the right people. Re: Tragic crash in Florida - Mr645 - 05-15-2024 you ca read about legal migrant workers here https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/agriculture/mspa But illegal workers can work as life guards since they swim so good. https://www.yahoo.com/news/mayor-adams-migrants-excellent-swimmers-192833280.html |
