Biden & Trump agree to debate on June 27 and Sept 10 - steve... - 05-15-2024 WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on Wednesday agreed to hold two campaign debates — the first on June 27 hosted by CNN and the second on Sept. 10 hosted by ABC — setting the stage for the first presidential face-off in just weeks. The quick agreement on the timetable to meet followed the Democrat’s announcement that he will not participate in fall presidential debates sponsored by the nonpartisan commission that has organized them for more than three decades. Biden’s campaign instead proposed that media outlets directly organize the debates with the presumptive Democratic and Republican nominees. Trump, in a post on his Truth Social site, said he was “Ready and Willing to Debate” Biden. Hours later, Biden said he accepted an invitation from CNN, adding, “Over to you, Donald.” Trump said on Truth Social he’d be there, adding, “Let’s get ready to Rumble!!!” And soon after that, they agreed to the second debate on ABC. AP news CNN is saying that for their debate, no audience will be present (no obnoxious deplorables). Re: Biden & Trump agree to debate on June 27 and Sept 10 - RAMd®d - 05-15-2024 I imagine P45* will debate thinking he can just steamroll over Biden. My idea of a balanced debate is that each participant is in a soundproof booth à la '50s game show. They'd each have a mic, speaker, countdown timer, and red and green lights, but a moderator/referee would have a switch that allows only one to be heard by the audience. They'd know when they could talk and when they couldn't be heard. While we're at it, a screen that says LIE DETECTED and a flash bang is fired inside the booth. Patent Pending. Re: Biden & Trump agree to debate on June 27 and Sept 10 - $tevie - 05-15-2024 My guess is that there will be no September debate. Either because Trump does so poorly in the June one, or because Trump can seriously no longer put together complete sentences, or both. Re: Biden & Trump agree to debate on June 27 and Sept 10 - mrbigstuff - 05-15-2024 yeah, not holding my breath for any fall debate, as the presumptive "winner" of the summer debate will find a reason not to debate in the fall. but, really, is there any point to debating someone like 45? my hope is that Biden asks him specific things about being President that 45 should know but, of course, does not. I would like to see a discussion involving "shop talk," but I may be in the minority here.
