Quick! Should I go to work? - microchip13 - 03-03-2007

I'd only be able to work for about an hour and I'm not sure if it's worth it.

15 minutes there, 1 hour working, 15 minutes back home; that'd land me back where I am now at 7:30. I'm tempted.

Edit: I have decided I'm going.

Since it makes absolutely no difference to anyone else in the world besides yourself, you should just decide whether you really need that $6.05 paycheck.

I miss the days when work was optional...

And a shift was one hour...

And there was still time left in the day to do something else...

Now it's 12 hour (sometimes longer) shifts and a boss that gives me attitude every time I want to use my vacation time.

Do you really want him to be glad you're gone ? :-)

Does he at least feign interest with how your vacation went upon return ?

Just be glad you do not work at Wal-Mart. They might force you to come in for only an hour of work, but at 3 am.

My boss is a jerk. He works through his breaks/lunch every day. He has made the comment several times that we must not have enough to do if we are still taking breaks. And he is serious!

The only time I have seen him take a lunch break is when they are serving free food.

He gives back the company vacation time every year.

I don't want to sound ungrateful but I am not going down that road.

...... and he'll live to be 101, just to haunt the world. :-)

I had a boss just like that once.
Worth millions. Cheap SOB.
Peanut butter jelly sandwiches for lunch.
Re-used the brown bag till it fell apart.
Duct taped the bottom of the bag because it made it 'last' longer.
Peanut Butter in metal 5 gal. cans.
Not purchased. Traded for greenhouse stock with someone in Georgia.
Same with the jelly. Deal.

Once commented he must be paying me too much if I had money to throw away on a fur-lined leather bomber.
It was warm, dammit.

Would be interesting to know if he actually ran the numbers - cost of new sack vs. 4.5" of duct tape ...
