It's Girl Scout Cookie season again... now with NO trans fat - jimbrady - 03-03-2007

They told us we were absolutely forbidden to start selling them before 4PM this afternoon (1PM on the Left Coast?).

I'm sure my six year old will develop into a great future business leader, but this crap seems pretty absurd.

no trans fats, but are they made with real Girl Scouts? Free range Girl Scouts? Organic free trade Girl Scouts?

My wife brought some home several weeks ago.

They took our order a few months ago and delivered the cookies in mid Feb, and they were all eaten shortly after that. I'm in the SF Bay Area.

I wonder if that time restriction is just for your local group/neighborhood so that they all get an even chance at neighbors.

More evidence that Florida dances to the tune of its own piper. I don't think this issue is headed for a 5-4 decision in the US Supreme Court, but you never know. Who wants to take odds it's a FL scout that sells the most Thin Mints and Tagalongs this year?

We've had them for a week or so here, I just delivered a bunch of boxes to a local bar where I forced everyone to buy boxes and boxes late at night when they were drunk, and I made them pay in advance too.

If any of you ordered the the sugar free brownie cookies, take a look under the ingredients, it says that overconsumption of these cookies will act as a laxative.

too much sorbitol will do that. my wife OD'd on sugar free creamsicle jelly candies and, well, it was orange too.

the real question is...do the cookies still taste good?

Trans fats don't affect the taste of baked goods IIRC, they used them to increase the shelf-life of the finished good. They probably put a crapload of other preservatives in there to compensate.
