Liking iOS18.2 Mail on iPhone 14Pro - sekker - 12-17-2024

I have posted my frustrations with iOS 18. Fair's fair when there's good, too.

I like the new Mail. Helping me organize my total chaos that's called 'email'.

So far, no major NEW issues, either.

I abhor that it defaulted to making it look like I had no new mail in any of my 9 email accounts. I almost blew a really big job opportunity.

Turned all that cr@p off and went back to list view for each of my Inboxes.

...I've already had to walk a half dozen people thru the same thing when they started screaming that they weren't receiving any new email.

Apple's arrogance is really f-ing annoying sometimes.

Took me 3 days to figure out where my mail went.

I'm with Tiangou on this one. I pretty much immediately switched it back to the previous settings, without even bothering to Google for how to do it...

Peter,

I saw the change and immediately hated it. Didn't even bother giving categories a chance. Just turned it off and went searching to see what other nonsense Apple tried pulling off in the update. Didn't even bother looking on Google. Just went into settings and got rid of the categories. It's one of those times when I wish Apple would mention the a new feature but _not_ automatically activate upon upgrading or updating the OS.

Robert

Wow. Ok, I am glad folk can turn it off!

So far, it's simplified my life on the go. And I can still see/find my email on my Mac as needed.

Thanks! I added this to my 'in emergency, break glass' bookmark in case I cannot stand the new Mail for long.

I didn't like it either.

It was a WTF moment and I knew there would be away to revert.

It had already sort emails into categories 'for' me, and I was none too happy.

It was maybe 90s from opening mail to changing it back.

I get that Apple may default to new UIs as many would not check them out.

But it still bugs me.

It reminds me of when DealMac reorganized and had thirty different forum categories.

(Of COURSE that's hyperbole.)

It took organization way too far.

If I need a specific sortation, I'll make a new mail box with some rules.

Effin pisses me off when Apple does $#!t like this. Reminds me of Micro$hit and how they force things on you. I immediately googled to find out how to turn the filtering off. I don’t mind them adding new features, but they should NEVER force you into it by default.
