So before I pull the trigger on VoicePulse... - M A V I C - 03-09-2007 It looks like I have almost everything I need, except I'll probably need a new router. This is after using the Vonage speed testing while working. I uploaded a 40MB file and watched my QoS drop to ~40%. So I'd like to get a router that enforces QoS. Any recommendations for a router? Any recommendations before I pull the trigger on VoicePulse? TIA Re: So before I pull the trigger on VoicePulse... - mattkime - 03-09-2007 one option is to place the gizmo between your modem and your current router. if you're brave enough and nerd enough, you go for a $40 buffalo and install linux on it. it has wonderful packet prioritization features. hawking also makes a simple device but i forget the name of it. Re: So before I pull the trigger on VoicePulse... - Gilbert - 03-09-2007 The device from hawking that mattkime is referring to is called the Broadband Booster. http://www.hawkingtech.com/products/productlist.php?CatID=36&FamID=80&ProdID=216 I use it in conjunction with Vonage and it eliminated the dropouts we were having when uploading. I initially tried a Linksys router with the DD-WRT firmware but its QOS didn't work well so I then tried the Broadband Booster and it has worked flawlessly. No config to do, just plug it in and it does its thing. Re: So before I pull the trigger on VoicePulse... - shadow - 03-09-2007 No problems here with QoS on a DD-WRT on a WRT54GL. |
