COVID...again - davemchine - 03-25-2025 During the main COVID scare I was a big supporter of wearing masks and social distancing. I've been vaccinated at every opportunity. Here I am with COVID for the THIRD TIME. I don't know that I will bother anymore. Re: COVID...again - gabester - 03-25-2025 Hope that you have a quick recovery and minimal adverse symptoms and no long term consequences. Vaccines can make the course of illness much quicker and easier even if they don't outright prevent infection. Hope you recover quickly. Re: COVID...again - special - 03-25-2025 Covid sucks. Sometimes I wonder if I have a mild form of Long Covid. I think my mind is not as sharp and clear as it was five years ago. I had covid twice, at least twice that I know of. I cannot go on wearing mask forever... I try to wash hands when I get home or use hand sanitizer when I get in the car, and I wear masks on the airplane. Re: COVID...again - kj - 03-25-2025 I am pretty sure I got it on our recent trip, and I did not get the vaccine this year. My wife did, and was only sick for a couple days. Me, I’ve been sick for a few days now. I’m thinking the vaccine helped her. I’ve also recently read the vax reduces the chances of long-covid, so that’s a pretty good reason right there… Re: COVID...again - sekker - 03-25-2025 Feel better soon! Re: COVID...again - Michael - 03-25-2025 I've had it several times and have had an additional vaccination every time CDC told us old folks it's time to roll up our sleeves. Each time I got COVID it was less impactful than the previous time. The last time I was just feeling a bit sick with a minor temp. I only COVID tested because I had several tests that were going to expire even after the time extensions on them. I was surprised it was positive. Re: COVID...again - davester - 03-26-2025 Get well soon Dave. I would definitely continue to update your shots if I were you. For us older folks the consequences of a severe Covid infection can be life threatening. It's not in the news much but people are still dying of Covid. Re: COVID...again - JoeH - 03-26-2025 davester wrote: Yeah, as much as it is not in the news people are still dying from it. Last year the confirmed death toll was around 45,000, recent bad years of the flu only reached a max of 52,000. At least 2024 was a decrease over the prior years. Re: COVID...again - Lemon Drop - 03-26-2025 Hope you are better soon Dave! Do get those vaccines. They protect our loved ones and keep us alive and less sick than we might otherwise be. |
