blend horsehair plaster and new patch of... ? - mrbigstuff - 04-23-2025 I'm hesitant to try my hand at plaster, but I'm ok with drywall and taping. But, my wall seems to be part plaster and part drywall (have yet to take it down). I need to blend the two, and would prefer not to demo the whole wall but would consider it if it's a crappy idea to blend these two systems. What would you use to patch the gap between the plaster and the drywall? Once that is dry, then you can use drywall tape and drywall mud to finish off everything nice and smooth. Then sand as needed. Rinse and Repeat with the drywall mud and sanding until you get a nice even, smooth finish. Then prime and paint. P.S. Don't forget to wet (spray with water) the old plaster/drywall mud before applying new (or more) to prevent the old from sucking all the moisture out of the new and causing it to crack. |
