NPR newscasts now officially too depressing - Lemon Drop - 04-29-2025 Yesterday driving home the stories were: 1. Trump wants to end the 988 suicide hotline service. This is specialized help for LGBTQ+ youth, a group particularly vulnerable to suicide. This program is known to save lives. Why in the hell would you cut this?? Really hate gay kids that much? https://www.npr.org/sections/shots-health-news/2025/04/28/nx-s1-5375847/federal-government-may-cut-988-suicide-hotline-for-lgbtq-youth 2. A long but compelling interview with the Columbia University activist detained by ICE. Shameful. Not NPR's fault that they have to deliver so much disturbing news. It is just overwhelming. Have to keep screaming for this stuff to stop, because sometimes that works. Re: NPR newscasts now officially too depressing - steve... - 04-29-2025 This program is known to save lives. You can't believe this unless you can reproduce it yourself... at least I can't. But that’s why I qualified this with “apparently”. |
