Teenage drivers - special - 04-29-2025
This morning I took my kid to a doctor's appointment. After that I dropped him off to high school.
On the way to school there was an Audi tailgating us. The speed limit was 45. As we approached the high school, the speed limit dropped to 30. This car then passed us on the right shoulder and sped back up only to enter the high-school parking lot about 200 feet ahead of us.
My son went to the main office to drop off the doctor's excuse note. There he noticed that the girl in front of him was the one who drove that Audi. She was saying she just came back from the traffic court where she had to go for reckless driving and she was also complaining that her parents were upset since she crashed the Tesla.

This may become a self correcting problem, just hope she doesn't take anyone with her.

Hopefully they will take her drivers license on the spot and give her a ride to the police station.

That's not in any way how it works.
A friend of mine was killed in a crash where a driver in the opposite lane crossed over while texting and hit his motorcycle head on. There were witnesses. Obvs the police were on scene in minutes.
FYI the police didn't "take his drivers license on the spot" nor did they give him a ride anywhere. His GF came and got him. Police did not even impound his car--it was simply towed away.
It took the police nine months to finally charge the guy.

Maybe in the '70s, not today.
Maybe if there were camera footage.
But there's still be traffic court.

One wonders if the school has any sort of driver permission program for parking privileges. I recall kids getting kicked out of parking for doing burnouts in the school parking lot.
