8GB and 16GB, Firewire 400 and 800. Pricing not announced yet... Hopefully cheaper per gig than those Kangaru dealybobs.

Given the number of PCs with 6-pin FW ports (let alone FW 800 ports) I predict prohibitively high prices.

I have not heard of any flash media that is faster than USB 2 yet so if the FireWire version is even 10% more, it is overpriced.

Well, I want one of those things just to build a universal bootable drive. Alas, most PowerPC Macs won't boot off USB.
Apple's bungling of Firewire -- especially Firewire 800 -- ranks among the company's wost missteps since Jobs came back.

FW flash drives may not be faster (I've seen nothing one way or the other) but they will boot PPC Macs, and I want that.
The Kangaru stuff is too expense, but was the only game in town for me, until today. So if it's even 10% cheaper, I'm in.

Standard Firewire400 is routinely a good deal faster than USB2 in real world data transfer. Larry from OWC gave the technical details the other day. Ya gotta keep up!
As for PCs not having Firewire, many now do, only in the 4 pin iLink flavor. It's actually PCs loss.
I do agree that Apple has dropped the ball big time re: Firewire. One reason I'm holding on to my 4th generation Ipod Photo is that I can use Firewire to charge AND sync. I wonder how many others are doing the same.

I could not find any comments by OWC Larry in the last month about the FireWire flash drives being faster than USB 2 drives. I understand that FireWire on Macs is faster than USB 2. If they are just coming out with a FireWire version so G5 and older Mac users can boot from it, great. If they are using a new faster type of flash memory that can take advantage of FireWire then they should say that.

Actually, look at the photo closer. The FW400 version appears to have a 4-pin port on the back of the drive (6-pin on one side, 4-pin on the other).
