place to order face brick? - Psurfer - 04-03-2007

I need to replace the face brick on an interior wall (thin bricks that are attached individually, then tuckpointed in-between). Where is the best place to get/order some?

And here I was thinking that was a new euphemism for your "Grillz".

Lowes has a nice retro facebrick in the tile section.

Ah, start at the ol' B&M's. I should've known, thanks.
But the last time I called around (probly incl Home Depot), they acted like they never heard of the stuff.

These guys sell at least 1 style of face brick and they've got dealers all over the place. We used it on our fireplace and it looks great.

We've used Z-brick with success. http://www.z-brick.com/ It isn't carried at the big two, you need to get it at Ace or Menards.

Btw, I've since realized that what I'm looking for is called veneer brick ("V-brick" or thin-brick), which is ~ 1/2" thick; face brick is typically 2.5" thick.

Look in the Yellow Pages under Masonry Supplies or brick & stone yards. My brother in law gets all his materials from the stone yard closest to the town he's working in. They're more common than you would think.

FWIW, the Lowes stuff is about 1/2" thick, I considered it for a fireplace surround a few years ago.

I lived in a house years ago with the "z-brick" stuff. Unless they have improved it, the look is very artificial, and the pointing material looks bad.

Any large tile shop will have what you are looking for. "The Tile Shop" is a east coast chain that carries several styles as well.
