Scan Directly to iPhoto - Sam* - 04-08-2007

On my mom's new iMac (1gb ram), I'd love to set her up so she could scan straight into iPhoto. Previously she has used Photoshop Elements 2.0 to scan the pic- then save it and then put it into iPhoto -- which is a lot of steps.

The scanner is a Epson 3200 Photo.

Seems like this might be a task for automator if iPhoto 6 can't do it. I've only tried to use automator a couple of times with no success.

All suggestions are helpful.

I have so much appreciated the advice I've gotten here so far in purchasing and setting up this wonderful computer for my mom.

Thanks,

Sam*

Image Capture can do this. It's an application that's already sitting on her computer. It should auto-recognise her scanner, allow her to use either TWAIN or the built-in scanning software, and then pass the result directly into iPhoto.

Consult Image Capture's Help menu for more detail.

Thanks chas_m,

I'll check it out and then train her -- sounds like a good solution. Can't believe I never knew this.
