I have four Macs active on my home LAN:
Intel iMac with wired connection and OSX 10.4.9 and can see the Dual 867, the Mini and the iBook.
G4 Dual 867 with wired connection and OSX 10.4.9 and can see the iMac, the Mini and the iBook
G4 Mini with wired connection and OSX 10.4.9 and can see the iMac, the Dual 867, and the iBook
G4 iBook with wireless connection and OSX 10.4.8 that can see the Mini and the Dual 867 but NOT the iMac although it has previously been able to see the iMac.
The permissions on all four systems are set the same:
Owner: system; access: read & write
Group: admin; access: read & write
Others: read only.
Any suggestions as to why the iBook cannot see the iMac?

subnetworks ? Are they all on the same router ? switches ? Hard addresses that are in contention ?
How are the shared settings ? And by "See" do you mean via Bonjour or web sharing or SSH or whatever .. ?

All on the same router, no switches. I'm using DHCP so no hard adresses if that's what you are asking.
I assume by shared settings you mean the settings under Services. I have all checked but Windows Sharing, Printer Sharing and Xgrid. The only exception is the iMac which has a shared USB printer connected and has the Printer Sharing box checked.
By seeing I mean that when I click on the network icon in a Finder window, I can see the alias icons for all systems on the LAN except that the iBook cannot see the iMac and therefore cannot mount the iMacs drives.
Please forgive my lack of familiarity with the terminology. I have been a Mac user since they arrived in 1984, but have not delved into the complexities of sharing under OS X. I just use it and until now it has not given me any problems.

Does connecting the iBook to a wired connection change the situation?
Have you tried to connect to the Intel iMac using it's IP address?

No to both, but I will see if either fixes it.

I couldn't find where to enter the IP address. However I did update to OSX 10.4.9, rebooted, and now can access the iMac. Most likely the reboot fixed it but I'll never know.

In the Finder's "GO" menu, the "Connect to server..." menu item.
