Some one trying to steal my PayPal/Credit card info??!! - Harbourmaster - 04-17-2007 We had an eBay item close on Saturday. I sent the buyer (who appears to have good feedback) an email to verfify his shipping and email details as is my practice at the close of every auction. I have not yet gotten a response of any kind to that email but today on our "My eBay" page the item shows as the payment having been made, but with the hourglass sign that signifies the payment is pending. I click on the "Payment Details" link and get redirected to what looks to be a PayPal page, but, the page want's me to "sign up for PayPal" in order to collect my funds. This of course sets off alarm bells since I already have a verified PayPal account and the supposed payment does not show up in my account when I log in directly to PayPal. Here is the page in question: https://www.paypal.com/sold/id=0WR15252HP7854116 The weird thing is that this is showing up on my eBay page as a paid item. So if it is a scam then this person has really figured out how to get deep into eBay! Re: Some one trying to steal my PayPal/Credit card info??!! - jimbrady - 04-17-2007 Looks like a legit URL. Strange. I just got a question from a potential bidder on my re-listed TiBook asking "isn't this the same item?" with a link to here http://lisapi-cgl-us.bravehost.com/item9722396491.html BTW, that eBay item number in the URL refers to a "Brand New Palm Treo 650 Factory Unlocked UNBRANDED GSM" Not sure that would likely be confused w/a PowerBook. You know this is a scam page. Re: Some one trying to steal my PayPal/Credit card info??!! - Fred_Also - 04-17-2007 [quote Harbourmaster]We had an eBay item close on Saturday. Thus it didn't get credited to your paypal account. I think you will have to contact Paypal to get it straight. Lots of luck, Fred Also Re: Some one trying to steal my PayPal/Credit card info??!! - Harbourmaster - 04-17-2007 Yes I agree, it looks legit. The problem is that this supposed payment does not show up in my PayPal account. If I click the login link at the top of the page it takes me into my account and there is no sign of this payment., no link to "accept the payment' or anything at all. If I click on one of the account links it opens up a page asking for all of my information to open a new account. Just seems fishy to me... Is it possible that you mistyped your paypal email addy when setting up the listing? Fred Also If he got it wrong then why does it show up correctly in my eBay account??? Although ebay and paypal are in "bed together" they are 2 separate companies. Maybe the winner typed in your ebay email addy and you use a different email addy for paypal? Re: Some one trying to steal my PayPal/Credit card info??!! - rz - 04-17-2007 Um, have you TRIED contacting PayPal about this? I'm sure they could figure it out far quicker than anyone here. Re: Some one trying to steal my PayPal/Credit card info??!! - wolfcry911 - 04-17-2007 have you changed settings in PayPal to only accept payment from confirmed addresses? He possibly sent you the money but isn't confirmed and when you login you'll have to either accept or deny this payment. Just a possiblility... |
