Is the graphics chip in my G3 800 mhz ibook really so bad as to not even display the Bionic Woman trailer w/o stuttering and stopping?

I figured its just old, but i thought i would ask to see if its oldness or something actually wrong with my computer.

I think the computer is just too slow. There are usually minimum requirements listed with those sites. I know my G4 500 Powerbook is too old and slow to work well.

All but the fastest G3s will stutter when playing even half-decent video files made with modern codecs.

ah well. I'll just stick to watching videos on my G5...until thats too slow for modern codecs too!

G3 has no AltiVec.

bingo. AltiVec was about a 75% speed improvement on encoding video on my B&W G3/450 when I put in a G4/500 zif. Maybe 10% was the extra 50 mhz. The rest was AltiVec.

Decoding is also about that much faster.

Yeah, but if you have a good GPU, CPU doesn't have as big of an impact.
