$15 - Cheap Mac 802.11g USB Dongle - Mark (nonick) - 05-16-2007

If anyone is sitting with an old iBook and can't see spending $70-100 for an original Airport card, just thought I'd post a headsup. Meritline sells the gigafast WF748-CUI USB dongle for $15 delivered. (couple weeks ago it was like $12 delivered). On USB 1.1 it will be going about 802.11b speeds, but shouldn't slow the rest of your G network.

You may not find Mac compatibility listed, but it is 10.3, 10.4 compatible using the Zydas chipset driver here:

It's nice and small, works pretty well. Runs a bit warm, but I paid $12 so what are you gonna do?

Hmmm... that driver link is flaky. This one works:

Anyone know if this works with a Tivo series 2?

Hmm. I may pick this up for my ghettobook.

How bad are the drivers for it and do they support WPA, WPA2 and WPA Enterprise?
