Widget or Desktop App to show RAM useage - Rain - 09-13-2007

Is there anything built in already to OSX?
Or a program to download that will show me AMT of Ram in box, how much being used, etc.

/Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor.app

My fave...
http://www.ragingmenace.com/software/menumeters/

It's both compact and informative. You don't have to display every meter... I usually only enable the CPU and network meters, myself.

Had MENUMETERS on my old G5 and loved it.

Seems it wont run on my intel iMac............

For instructions on enabling third-party menu extras please see the documentation

Documentation doesn't tell me anything - I'll dig deeper later today

Did you UpDate your old one to the UniBin version?

You really gotta check out iStat. It's the best...

yes, uninstalled over version and loaded your linked version twice.
Same pop up message each time.

iStat looks good but does it give me the info up in the menu bar or is it just the large floating window?

MemoryCell 2.0.1
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16989

"MemoryCell is a MenuExtra for OS X that provides a quick overview on the memory (RAM) being used by each running application. Install MemoryCell, and the memory usage of the foreground application will be shown right in the menu bar. Use this knowledge to restart any application that's slowing down the system by using too much memory."

I third "MenuMeters" as a great choice. I had an expert IT guy that I turned on to this freebie utliity and he just raved about it because it has that network function(which I don't use) for his server field; at a glance, he could see how his whole system is doing without resorting to the stock Utility or Unix code.
