place to stay in NYC - abevilac - 09-15-2007 My husband and daughter are planning a college visit trip to nyc during her fall break and we're not having any luck finding a place. The Belnord Hotel wants more than $200 a night and most of the reviews say it's really bad. The Marrakeech Hotel has too many stories about large bed bugs and they want $300 a night for the Fri and Sat. Another place I found wants the security deposit by Western Union which I just don't trust for payment. It's owned by a supposed New Yorker who called Zabars -- the famous Zebras and said it was close to his Upper West Side apartment which was located on W 57th bet 6th and 7th Aves!!!! I used to live on the UWS and I call W 57th Midtown. Anyway, any other suggestions??? Re: place to stay in NYC - stephen - 09-15-2007 use Quikbook.com, priceline, hotwire, biddingfortravel.com, betterbidding.com Re: place to stay in NYC - mrbigstuff - 09-16-2007 have you tried looking in the Murray Hill area? Re: place to stay in NYC - MacMagus - 09-16-2007 What's your top-dollar? In the ballpark you've quoted -- maybe $250/night -- you could get a room at the Marriott in Times Square. probably less with a AAA discount. Re: place to stay in NYC - abevilac - 09-16-2007 I must be too late...everything is making $300 a night look cheap... We stayed there once a few years ago. With the shower in the room and the bathroom down the hall, might not be ideal for a father and daughter to share a room. They do have four more traditional suites, I believe in a separate building on the property. They weren't completed when we stayed there. http://www.chelsealodgesuites.com/ Still good accommodations for the money. Hotels in NYC are crazy expensive. Re: place to stay in NYC - NewtonMP2100 - 09-17-2007 the pod hotel? as mentioned in previous thread. . . on the small side but in midtown and supposedly "chic" |
