Anyone here fly the Concorde? - AAA - 11-30-2007

Watched James May's 20th century. Thought about how they had that one day from NY for free, I think? I wish, wish WISH I could have boarded the Concorde once in my life.

My ex boss did and said cabin was tiny and only virtue was flight time and being able to brag on experience. Real entertainment was flight speed indicator on wall.

My boss was airplane nut with our company basically existing to subsidize the company plane and had the time of his life on the Concorde.

Flew it from Caracas to Paris in the late 70's.
I am 6'2" and remembering feeling like I needed to duck slighly to walk down the isle.

Amazing what a leap in technology so long ago and now grounded forever.New faster and better planes? No. Instead we get that horrifying Airbus A380 with 550 seats and potentially 850 which is no faster than the original jet airliners in 1952, the BOAC Dehavilland Comets.

Where's my air car I was promised in 1955 in the funny papers?

Re: Anyone here fly the Concorde? - decocritter - 11-30-2007

That Airbus is too damn big.

Re: Anyone here fly the Concorde? - ho'ard - 11-30-2007

I assume you need some sort of license and training to fly the concorde?

Airplane pilots are just glorified bus drivers.
