Confused about the MS Office 2004 rebate requirements. - Joseph C. - 12-02-2007

I don’t know if I am being overly cautious on this one, but I’m confused about the MS Office 2004 rebate requirements.

Got this deal for MS Office 2004 Student Teacher Edition
http://forums.macresource.com/read/1/388901/389210#msg-389210

(Thanks Stephen)

MS wants “the front cover from your product user manual” submitted to qualify for the rebate.
All I got in the MS Office 2004 Student Teacher Edition package was the “Getting Started Guide”.

Are these equivalent?
Thanks

Let's hope so. It's gotta be.

I also noticed part of the paper on top of the security strip in the UPC sticker was worn away. Weird.

I think some people got the student and teacher edition even though they are neither student or teacher. I wonder if MS will ask proof of being such before processing the rebate.

"I wonder if MS will ask proof of being such before processing the rebate."

They don't care. The primary distinction to the Mac MS unit seems to be, are you using it in an office (as in a corporate environment, that purchases many full Office suites) or at home (including your home office.)

To get the full Office 2008 with this 11/23 deal, you send in two forms. With one you send in the box top (the one with the UPC) and for the other you send in the front cover of the guide.

No where in there does it say you need to provide proof you belong to the edu camp, although there is if you register the '04 copy you bought. But why on earth would you register software you're only going to use for a month anyway, if at all?

On mine, there is the top with the name and the sticker, which is on the plastic "cap" - probably need to send both.

Mine had a worn away sticker as well, right on the security strip/hologram deal.
