Can I remap the keys to one keyboard and not the other? - jcrichardson30360 - 12-12-2007 I'm looking to get a Matias "half keyboard" at work to free up one hand for the trackball, and was curious if it was possible to remap the keys on the "half keyboard" to a more Mac friendly configuration, without affecting my Apple Po Keyboard stock settings. Their support page simply says to remap the keys, not thinking of it being in adddition to a standard keyboard. I'm on a G4 runninng Tiger. Make sense? Re: Can I remap the keys to one keyboard and not the other? - sunder - 12-13-2007 Quickeys can do this but it costs a lot .There are shareware progams like iKey that might also do it, but I am not familiar with their capabilities. I've used Quickeys since my Mac plus. Can't live without it. Worth every penny. Seems like Matias should provide an app for this. Re: Can I remap the keys to one keyboard and not the other? - jcrichardson30360 - 12-13-2007 Well, I want to use it IN ADDITION to my standard Apple Pro keyboard. Will Quickeys let you "identify" which keyboard you want to remap while leaving the other one stock? Re: Can I remap the keys to one keyboard and not the other? - sunder - 12-13-2007 Yes, you can identify which input device will respond to a quickeys shortcut. You could make a set of shortcuts to remap the half keyboard and leave the regular keyboard alone. It's a really great utility. I actually hate using someone else's Mac because none of my shortcuts work. |
