What kind of maintenance does Leopard need? - AlphaDog - 12-19-2007
I'm not upgrading, but my friend just picked up her new MacBook Pro from me last Saturday. I'm getting ready to send her an e-mail to let her know she needs to do the 10.5.1 update and also the download that fixes the keyboard problem. On my computer, which is 10.3, I always do a Repair Permissions right after doing an update. Is that still recommended for Leopard? Anything else she should be doing?

i havent ever repaired permissions, ever
2 dual G4s, 2 dual G5s, 3 20" iMacs, 1 24" iMac all doing heavy lifting -- and a macbook, which does nothing...
of course, someone is going to chime in with something different... like running it everday and twice on sunday... or setting up schedules to do it...

I never repair permissions or do any maintenance unless there is an actual problem with the machine. I've got about 30 or 40 machines that I am responsible for. Everything from B&W G3s to Mac Pros.

Mine needs a deodorizer.
