I have this vendor (I won't name it here) that pisses me off. Not only their products break all the time, they're also very slow with repairs (both warranty and non-warranty). They sent me a quote for a repair, I decided to not replace certain parts, so I asked them if the price for the difference was OK. No, I forgot a "filter". The revised quote is not $393.22 vs $392.66. What is that, $0.55 difference? I already bought $20k worth of stuff from them in 2007! Probably the same ammount in 2006 and also in 2006. How can they be so closed minded? They don't get my business anymore. That's it!

Perhaps you weren't especially clear in your correspondence with them.
Did you ask for an itemized estimate?

If the filter costs 56¢ and you need it, do you think they should give it to you for free?
Yes, in comparison to the 20 grand you've spent with them, they should give you a discount on something, maybe like reduced labor rates, but if that's what the part costs, that's what the part costs. If they give you the 56¢ part for free, what should be the limit of when they charge you for parts and when they don't?
As prof said, maybe 55¢ is where they would have given it to you, but 56¢ and a plane crashes somewhere, lol.

If one of my customers (who bought $20K of stuff) bitched about 55 cents difference between quotes they might not be a customer too much longer.
Course, my customers know I do fuzzy math (and so does Peachtree sometimes) (GIGO) so they just pay the smaller amount. :-)
I'm not sending another invoice out with a 42 cent stamp on it for 55 cents, and they know it.
