There's something in the air = Apple WiMax support? - Chupa Chupa - 01-11-2008 Ah. Our first hints to MW. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/01/11/apple_hoists_theres_something_in_the_air_macworld_banners.html Valleywag says the "There's something in the air" phrase is a reference to WiMax, which will have a card built into the new MBPs. How cool would it be if each new MBP came with a "free" 2 year sub to Sprint's WiMax service. That could actually get it off the ground. Sprint is going national (national meaning major cities) in the spring. I wonder if ATT would be nervous seeing Apple play w/ another CellCo, even for a different product. http://valleywag.com/344015/can-apple-save-wimax Re: There's something in the air = Apple WiMax support? - Rick-o - 01-11-2008 Heh! You beat me to it! I was just now posting that link! BTW, what is on that huge iPhone display? A finder window? I cannot imagine Apple embracing any wireless standard that won't be supported on the iPhone. It would be unlike Apple to try to satisfy end-users at the cost of internal ideological consistency. I think that is just a mistake, in which the iPhone demo is running in Quicktime from a Mac lower than it is supposed to be, revealing the Mac's desktop underneath. Re: There's something in the air = Apple WiMax support? - ztirffritz - 01-12-2008 there are only 2 Wimax companies: Clearwire amd Sprint Unless 1 them is getting into business with Apple I doubt the WiMax theory Re: There's something in the air = Apple WiMax support? - incognegro - 01-12-2008 "something in the air" = "we shouldn't have served that 3-bean chili last night" |
