Start and end with Powell's Books. May be the biggest in US but it has to be the most fun.

Portland is a fun city. Young people can tune you in to all the clubs which it has a bunch.

Go to Huber's and get a Spanish Coffee. Even if you don't drink, it is worth the show.

Go the the Chinese Garden in China Town. There is also a Japanese garden that is very nice.

There are lots of cool little stores on Hawthorne, but probably not enough to justify a visit unless you run out of things to do.

There are also some good stores in Northwest on or around 25th I think. While you're over in that part of town go to the zoo. It isn't the biggest, but it is very nice. The Japanese Garden is in this area too I believe.

As mentioned earlier, don't drink the water...there is too much good beer to drink. Rogue, Hair of the Dog, McMenamin's, Bridgeport, the list is near endless.

Changed NorthEast to NorthWest...oops.

NW 23rd North of Burnsides is a fun neighborhood. Not far from Powell's and downtown. Coffeeshop heaven. Bars and clubs too.

If you're into Mountain Biking, Forest Park is among the best places that I've biked. The only place better that I've found is Cashmere WA.

McCormick & Schmick's or Jake's has the best hamburger for happy hour -$2

Federal court house (unless you have a reason to avoid it. ) The sculpture work on the upper level outside patio is nice. my sister was the senior designer for it.

Until recently, there was the 24 Hour Church of Elvis too.

Unfortunately, the rent forced an eviction and they've been looking for a new home.
